His story
Captain Bruce Metcalfe McMahon came from Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada, and graduated from the Chicago Veterinary College in 1915. Earlier research gives his birth date as 20 July 1884, which conflicts with the age of 35 in the CWGC cemetery register.
Bruce McMahon’s enlistment papers indicate that he had been working for the British Remount Commission at the time of his enlistment. McMahon was commissioned as a temporary lieutenant on 22 February 1916.
For most of his war service, Captain McMahon served in France, but after the Armistice, he was transferred to Germany.
Captain McMahon died on 3rd May 1919 from Broncho Pneumonia. He is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery in Germany.
